Outside of the center seating area of the VIP section you’ll find more benches and a large window at the end of the terminal that looks back out over the rest of the port. Try to find a seat next to one of the lamps, which feature a spot to plug in your cord. Given the new terminal and health protocols, the layout looks to be a bit different than you might be used to.

Official Port Canaveral Cruise Parking is available only directly adjacent to each of Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminals. The Port does not own or operate any off-Port parking facilities. The Orlando International Airport is located approximately 45 miles to the west of the port and is serviced by most domestic and many international airlines. Port Canaveral is located near the center of the east coast of Florida. With seven cruise terminals, it is well equipped to handle the millions of passengers that pass through its gates every year. Each terminal has it’s own parking lot for easy access to the ship and signs will direct which ships are docked at which terminal. Cruise Terminal B is home to The Cove as well as Port Canaveral’s restaurant and retail area. This is a Port with a strong, stable balance sheet that is not reliant upon government funding. It has over 1800 parking spaces with automated payment machines just a short walk from the ship.
Royal Caribbean Cruise Terminal (#
Port Canaveral is among the busiest cruise departure ports in the world, but thanks to its size and location, it can feel much smaller — and much easier — to navigate on cruise day. As for CT3, the terminal is located on the eastern end of the port, closest to the end of the channel. The closest cruise terminal is CT1, used by Royal Caribbean, which is still a considerable distance to the west. On your left you will see the parking garage and parking lots. Things can get a little confusing, so we’ve included the map below to who you the path you can take to pass in front of the two terminals and then continue on to the parking lot. From North/South - Take I-95 to Exit 205 East to Hwy 528 East.

To get to Disney’s port (Terminal #8), you will take a right after exiting from the main road into the port. The $27 million Disney Cruise Lines terminal at Port Canaveral was built to Disney's exacting specifications. It has a 90-foot high glass tower and a huge 13,000 square-foot terrazzo map of Florida and the Bahamas on the floor of the terminal.
After getting off the ship, you’ll head down the stairs, elevator, or sloped walkway to the luggage pick-up area. One smart detail of the terminal is the introduction of large stainless steel tables, greatly increasing the amount of luggage that can fit in the terminal. During our tour we were told that CT3 can hold up to 10,000 pieces of baggage. As with most terminals, the experience when you get off the ship is different than when you board. While the boarding side of the terminal is filled with modern style, the debarkation area is decidedly more utilitarian. No matter whether you’re a VIP or just a regular Joe, you’ll definitely be comfortable while you wait.
For those that need more help there will still be check-in stations staffed, but the emphasis on the traditional method of check-in seems diminished. Arriving at the terminal, you start to get a sense of the size of the facility. Given the size of Mardi Gras, a large terminal was needed to service the ship and the more than 10,000 passengers that could be embarking and debarking in a single day. To handle that traffic, the terminal is 185,000 square feet, making it the largest at Port Canaveral.

The Cove has several restaurants serving the B cruise terminals on the south side of the port. These include Fishlips Waterfront Bar and Grill, Rusty’s Seafood and Oyster Bar, Gators Dockside Sports Pub, Subway, Rising Tide, and Grills Tiki Bar. Located between terminals 3 and 10, Cruise Terminal 1 was specially built to accommodate some of the largest cruise ships in the world, including Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas. Cruise Terminal 1 is right next to The Cove, which features restaurants and refreshments. While many are anticipating sailing Mardi Gras in the years ahead, they won’t be able to board before making their way through the new terminal.
Some area hotels also offer cruise terminal shuttle service. Orlando International Airport (MCO) is approximately 45 minutes west of Port Canaveral cruise terminals. Port Canaveral and the nearby area have outlets for major car rental companies, all serviced by shuttles to the port terminals. Port Canaveral continues to expand with proposals for a new cruise terminal that would open in late 2026 on the port’s south side. All the main cruise lines use Port Canaveral as their homeport for some of their ships.
If you are sailing Royal Caribbean, you will take a right after exiting from the main road into the port. Once you exit, you will loop around to your right, before heading back south — the direction from which you originally came into the port. To know where to go next, you need an overview of the cruise terminals at Port Canaveral. While the port is large, each of the major cruise line has its own dedicated terminals. Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal parking is gated and has 24-hour security.
In 2024, Princess Cruises will begin to homeport the iconic “love boat” cruise ship, the Caribbean Princess, at Port Canaveral. It will offer Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries. The terminal includes the latest high-tech features to enable U.S. Customs and Border Control to scan thousands of cruisers and their luggage faster and more efficiently. Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal 3 has been recently redeveloped and is used mainly by Carnival Cruise Line. It is on the port’s south side next to Jetty Park Viewpoint and closest to the channel exit.

One thing to keep in mind no matter where you cruise from — help is just a question away. Cruise days are busy, and the port understands that many people aren’t sure exactly where they should go. From here you will pass the Disney terminal on your left.
You can go from vehicle to vessel in around 8 minutes! Luggage can be deposited at the parking garage, where it is transported by a huge covered conveyor directly to the ship to be scanned, security checked and loaded. This modern cruise port currently has six main cruise terminals to smoothly serve tens of thousands of embarking and disembarking cruise passengers every day. When passengers arrive to cruise, they have two options to get to the terminal entrance, which is located on the second floor. First, those parking or people needing an elevator can enter through the parking garage.

It was specifically designed to serve as homeport to Carnival’s huge Mardi Gras cruise ship, which carries 6,500 passengers. This relatively new cruise terminal is used mainly by some of Royal Caribbean’s biggest cruise ships, including Harmony of the Seas, Wonder of the Seas and Independence of the Seas. Adventure of the Seas and Allure of the Seas were added to the Port Canaveral home fleet in late 2023, along with Voyager of the Seas from 2024. The “A” terminal is where the large cruise ships — Disney, Royal Caribbean, and Carnival — make their home. You will take this exit to your right and make a large loop around. Once you make the loop, you will see the cruise ships almost directly ahead of you.
Other cruise lines visit Cape Canaveral as a port of call. These include Costa Cruises, Cunard, Oceania, P&O, Tui, and Regent Seven Seas. Port Canaveral is currently homeport to 20 ships, including Carnival, Disney, MSC, Norwegian (NCL), Royal Caribbean and Marella Cruises. Carnival Cruise Line is the longest of any of the cruise partners and has been sailing out of Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal since 1990. The terminal address is 9245 Charles M. Rowland Drive. This older cruise terminal at Port Canaveral is now used mainly by Norwegian Cruise Line ships and Marella Discovery.

Assuming you are coming from Orlando, once you reach Cape Canaveral (after going over two causeways), you will see a roadsign giving you two options. You can either stay on the Beachline to head toward the “B” cruise terminals or you can exit to your right to go to the “A” cruise terminals. A little farther away from the port is the nearby Kennedy Space Center to the north as well as the town of Cocoa Beach to the south. Cocoa Beach is a classic beach town with a large pier and plenty of “beachy” activities like putt-putt and go-karts, along with a number of restaurants. Unlike some ports, Port Canaveral isn’t just a place to get on the ship. There are a number of nearby restaurants that sit on the port channel (giving a great view of ships in port).
With the theme parks close by, it comes as no surprise that three Disney ships call Port Canaveral home. The Dream, Fantasy, and new Disney Wish currently dock at Cruise Terminal 8. Visitors will also find last-minute shopping and convenience stores in downtown Cape Canaveral. If you're flying into Orlando with time to spare, a nice option is to rent a car there, use it to explore the area around the Cape then return it at the port before your cruise. The remainder of the port’s north side is off-limits as it accommodates the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, the U.S.
